A word from your guide
Hello Meet People community, I'm Julie, passionate about nature, mountains, and Corsica, so come and discover these Corsican treasures during a walk, hike... From sunrise to sunset, or just a few hours strolling through the forest discovering plants and birds, listening to stories and legends from our shepherds and learning about local and rural heritage, identifying plants and learning what they were used for, taking part in a treasure hunt or a scavenger hunt, or even a hike in a joelette with a person with reduced mobility: an extraordinary human adventure! I also organize tailor-made treks lasting several days: discovering the GR20 but also, and above all, exceptional variations and off-trail routes. And I'm in Corsica all year round, so in winter it's snowshoeing, searching for avalanche victims with a device, and descending in a cuculuge. In short, there's something for all tastes and paces, so don't hesitate!
Description of your future experience
I invite you to immerse yourself in a place of exceptional tranquility and serenity: a summer pasture and transhumance plateau where pigs, sheep, goats, cows, and horses graze freely. I will take you to a panoramic peak or viewpoint from where you can see the sea and the highest peaks of Corsica before descending to rock shelters or troglodyte sheepfolds sculpted by the wind, salt, sun, and water...We'll push a little further to a large expanse of grass and lawns with a thousand water holes called pozzines, which are ancient glacial lakes that have gradually been filled in. I'll explain how the plants are used and tell you some local stories. After these 2-3 hours of hiking (about 150 to 200m of elevation gain and the same in descent), we will then go to eat in a sheepfold where the sunset is magnificent. The return trip takes about 1 to 1.5 hours along a trail with headlamps if we leave in the afternoon, or we can have a picnic at the summit and return at dusk.
What we will see: a panoramic summit with views of the sea and the highest peaks of the sheepfolds off the beaten track, sculpted by the wind, sun, salt, and water; an ancient glacial lake with soft grassy areas to relax on; a meal in a sheepfold on the GR20 with a warm welcome and an exceptional sunset.
