Hello, everyone. My name is Cassidy. I used to work in archaeology, but I decided to pursue a career in cultural mediation so I could serve as a humble bridge between these ancient stones and my visitors.

For an hour and a half, we’ll set out to explore a city undergoing a major transformation. Nîmes is expanding, modernizing, and new boulevards are springing up… but amid it all, its ancient monuments are still standing.

And that’s where things get interesting! During this period, the people of Nîmes began, little by little, to view their heritage in a new light. How could they modernize the city without erasing its history? What should they do with these old stones, which, until then, hadn’t always been regarded as treasures?

As we stroll through the city, we’ll discover this Nîmes—caught between modernity and preservation—through its streets, its monuments, and the stories of those who helped shape the city we know today.
