A word from your guide
I offer “Monte Cristo” experiences in Marseille, designed to bring Alexandre Dumas’s world to life in the heart of the city.
My commitment to this story goes far beyond a simple tour: I’ve published four books on the subject and organized several events to share this passion with an ever-growing audience.
Through my tours, I love to weave together fiction, history, Marseille’s heritage, and the thrill of travel.
Each tour is designed to be a vivid immersion: you don’t just listen to a story—you walk through the places that inspired Dumas and discover Marseille in a whole new way.
I offer two complementary tours:
• The Count of Monte Cristo Around the Old Port: a dynamic walking tour through the heart of Marseille, taking in narrow streets, docks, historical anecdotes, and traces of Dumas’s imagination.
It’s a unique way to explore the Old Port and Marseille’s historic district through the characters, settings, and themes of *The Count of Monte Cristo*, while also gaining insight into how Alexandre Dumas conceived this story.
• *Monte Cristo*, from the Old Port to the Château d’If
A more comprehensive experience—on foot and then by boat—that takes you all the way to the Château d’If.
After exploring the sites in Marseille linked to the story, we board a boat to reach this legendary fortress, inextricably tied to the story of Edmond Dantès. The stop at the Château d’If transforms the tour into a true adventure, blending the sea, literature, and heritage.
We then continue along the coast, returning having seen and understood all the key elements of the novel and its impact on the author’s life.
My goal is simple: to share my passion, help you discover Marseille from an unexpected perspective, and offer a friendly, accessible, and memorable experience—whether you’re a fan of Dumas, a history buff, a lover of Marseille, or simply curious to enjoy a wonderful cultural outing.
Description of your future experience
Embark on the adventure of *The Count of Monte Cristo* with a comprehensive experience combining exploration on foot and a sea voyage, following in the footsteps of Edmond Dantès.
1 hour on foot around Marseille’s Old Port and 2 hours aboard a comfortable RIB.
The tour begins around the Old Port with a one-hour guided walk through the iconic sites that inspired Alexandre Dumas. Through maritime history, captivating anecdotes, and legendary scenes from the novel, Marseille reveals itself as the true setting for this timeless work.
Then, set sail for two hours at sea accompanied by a skipper to fully immerse yourself in the world of The Count of Monte Cristo.
As you leave the harbor, let the story carry you toward the legendary Château d’If, the central setting of Dantès’s story. The cruise continues along the rugged coastline, offering unspoiled, natural landscapes, before a gentle return along the urban coastline, with a unique view of Marseille from the sea.
At the Château d’If as well
30 minutes on the island made famous by the novel—(weather permitting a landing; otherwise, the boat tour will be adjusted to make the most of the site)
Throughout this experience, storytelling and scenery intertwine to immerse you in a world where fiction and reality blend, all within an exceptional setting.
Ideal for couples, families, or friends, this package will appeal to lovers of adventure, the sea, and great stories.
